Hands ON
Under the title «Hands ON» the ZHdK Bachelor Industrial Design students of the first semester worked on abstractions of the human hand in a robotic context (lecturer: Lisa Ochsenbein, assistant: Laurin Schaffner). Various designs in distinct materials and with apporpriate concepts of movement and gesture were created during the course in exchange with the Computational Robotics Lab at ETH Zurich. The Lab carries out research in the field of soft robots, so-called soft anthrophomorgic manipulators, which can be moved with threads. In the future new robotic applications will be demanding different concepts of robotic constructions and movements: soft materials are in that context promising for more close interactions and collaborations between humans and robots, as well as the fusion of both such as wearable devices and prothesis.
