Florian Faller
The Wild Rumpus – Animacy, Emergence & Play
The talk will focus on artificial liveliness and the aesthetic quality of animate behaviour in game design. Florian will speak about using AI and a mix of traditional and procedural animation methods to create an illusion of life rooted in an emergent, organic, and unpredictable play.
Florian Faller works as a lecturer in the Subject Area in Game Design at Zurich University of the Arts with a focus on Visual Arts and Game Culture. His portfolio as a game designer refers from Independent Games and Experimental Projects to Serious Games and commercial titles. He is Co-Founder of the Swiss game design studio Bits & Beasts and Co-Designer of Feist.
Florian's projects received numerous international awards and were showcased at international festivals and exhibitions. Before starting his professional career as a game designer, he studied German literature at the University of Basel and worked with various audiovisual media.
