Nadya Suvorova & Mario von Rickenbach

Future materials are no longer inert matter: they are intelligent, evolving systems capable of embedding a wide range of properties and complex functions that cannot be apprehended and categorised within our classical frame of references.

In this masterclass, we will examine how the new possibilities of materials coming from scientific laboratories challenge the creative process. Together with material scientists from the Complex Materials Group at ETH Zurich, we will imagine the potential use of their materials.

Nadya Suvorova is an interactive media artist and designer, and Mario von Rickenbach is a game designer and programmer. Their collaboration roots in a deep fascination for matter, which they playfully explore through the prism of interactive technology. Magnifying, shifting and bridging perspectives, their artistic approach sets humans and materials as active protagonists who drive creative processes to imagine and shape the future.
